There is absolutely no way this hotel is 4 Star. Rooms are tired and grubby - the shower leaked because the doors were rusty and didn’t shut properly from over use, there was no plug in the sink, the bed was uncomfortable, the curtains were dirty and had holes in, half of the electric sockets were loose and didn’t work, our maid service was missed and when it was done the didn’t replenish shower gel or water, the shower gel was in tiny little sachets and there was no shampoo or conditioner. When we checked in they asked for ID but we were not given our passports back - when we realised the next morning and questioned this we were told we were wrong and that they had been given back to us. We turned the room upside down looking for them so were then panicked they had been stolen. Went back down to reception to let them know, only to see our passports in our room key slot - they had been left in the copier but no one had thought to phone us to let us know it was their mess up and they had found them and no apology was offered - they didn’t seem to understand why we were so annoyed we had wasted time looking for something because they had told us it was our mistake. Location is also not good - the walk to the metro is fine and took about 12-15 mins with good links to the city. However we took an Uber back every evening (around €40) because I did not want to walk in the neighbourhood after dark. It did not feel safe and was also incredibly run down and dirty. Did not see a single local restaurant or business open, apart from a small minute mart near the metro. I would love to visit Rome again but will be doing much better research about which areas to stay in as a tourist.
Just managed to get on plane, we weren’t late getting to airport. On landed couldn’t find shared transfer(asked around about 20 different people) eventually got taxi, €85 coz tired and hungry. Arrived approximately 10.25pm .No food or drinks available as bar and food shut at 10pm, was a snack and coffee machine but nearly empty! Breakfast was okay but cold! If we hadn’t met Ian and Mary we would have been really upset! Its in the middle of housing estate! Did find Trattoria restaurant just round corner but again shut at 10! No English channels on tele and only champions league in downstairs bar! Only 4 star I’ve ever stayed in with no kettle although was not all inclusive! Thanks to aforesaid Ian and Mary we found metro, and used debit card to pay at station turnstile gate, brilliant clue, about£1,30 ew, thank u guys x we are 68 and luckily able to walk for 10-15 minutes walk, mostly uphilll ,to metro station , pavements were littered and broken, not for wheelchairs or disabled . Was clean but small room, reminded me of premier inn! Room not really important as only sleep there , I thought was near city centre but it is not! metro was frequent approx every 6 mins. Rome was really good , thanks to the Scottish couple, Ian and Mary .
