This Hotel is in an excellent location. Very decent bedrooms. I enjoyed my spa visit too. However the best thing about this Hotel was the restaurant. Breakfasts were varied and plentiful. We also had evening meals here which were very tasty. An efficient reception too. Would highly recommend this Hotel
Overall, the hotel was poor but in a good location. However, the breakfast was quite poor, with a very limited selection, bad coffee, and low-quality juice and other beverages. We only ended up eating the hotel breakfast on two out of the four mornings because of its poor quality. The hotel also advertises that the rooms include a minibar and air conditioning. However, the minibar has been completely phased out and is no longer in use, meaning there is no functioning minibar in the room. The air conditioning did not work at any point during our stay, and we received different—and frankly rather ridiculous—explanations from the staff as to why. The reception staff claimed it was because Riga had experienced so much rain in the previous days. When we later contacted the hotel by email, they replied: “Regarding the air conditioning, unfortunately it is currently not working throughout the Old Town area because the outside temperature has been below 20°C.” This was obviously nonsense, as we visited several other public and private establishments in the Old Town where the air conditioning was working perfectly. We requested a partial refund because the hotel failed to provide amenities that were explicitly included when we booked our stay. Instead, the only compensation they offered was access to the spa area (worth €20). This was of no value to us, as we had neither planned nor wanted a spa visit. I will not recommend this hotel or this hotel chain to anyone. In fact, I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to choose one of the larger, more established hotel chains instead.
Just returned from a midsummer visit to Riga, staying in the Wellton Centrum Hotel & Spa. The hotel was very good - room rate for a city centre at this time of year was quite reasonable and the rooms were very comfortable, clean and everything worked. My room was 212 and, like many, it overlooked a small internal quadrangle and was nice and quiet. The location was great - right in the city centre and everything within easy reach. The hotel is very close to the 'Autoosta' bus station which connects very directly and cheaply to the airport. The central station is also not that far away - we took the train from there to the nearby beach resort of Jurmala. Breakfast were OK - typical European buffet fare although poorly laid out. As a result, the 'flow' of guests in and around the stations for food and drink was chaotic. I think the management need to give some further thought to this. Staff were very friendly, helpful and pleasant. I would certainly recommend.
