We stayed 2 nights upon arriving from Italy and 1 night on the return from our tour. The first stay was a 3-star category room, very old and I didn't like it much. Breakfast was fine, but very early and few tables for so many people. The welcome on the first day was perfect. On the last stay, the receptionist was young and impolite, lacking experience in the sector; I indicated to her that I had registered on Monday and that she should look for my records since I still had the documents in the large suitcase inside the car, to which she refused and I had to take everything out. This time the room was much better, new, more spacious, and modern. We used the pool (you must wear a cap, which if you don't have, you can buy for 5€); we enjoyed it a lot, even after checking out. It has a basic gym and, in general, the cleanliness is good.
5‑Star Family Stay – Hotel Colombo, Rome (15–20 August 2026) My family of five stayed at Hotel Colombo from 15–20 August 2026, occupying Rooms 327 and 112, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel environment is fantastic, clean, lively, and welcoming. Its location is incredibly strategic—transport is easy, and one of Rome’s biggest shopping malls is literally next door, just a short walk away. Customer service was exceptional throughout our stay. The reception team truly stood out. Matheo (whom I called “The Papa”) is someone every guest should meet—warm, attentive, and full of personality. Also, look out for Nicholas and Christian, who were consistently helpful and professional. The restaurant staff were equally impressive. Elduardo and his team, including Mohammed, made every meal enjoyable with their friendliness and efficiency. The room attendants were kind and hardworking, and even with a language barrier, they ensured our rooms were spotless and comfortable. We also loved the activities happening at the hotel. It’s not a boring place at all—there’s a lively atmosphere that adds a fun twist to your stay. My only suggestion would be to add more variety to the dinner menu, especially options that cater to international guests, and perhaps include dessert as part of the standard offering. Overall, we rate Hotel Colombo 5 stars and will definitely visit again.
Had a really lovely stay, friendly staff, from reception, breakfast room to room service, nice room with air conditioning and a shaded balcony which was necessary in August. It was easy to get to all the well-known sights from the hotel by bus and metro. The shopping center behind the hotel was also nice, if you have teenage daughters with you who crave a McDonald's. There was also a swimming pool which was very nice after visiting everything in 40 degrees to take a dip. Note, bring a swimming cap, this is mandatory. You can also buy this at the reception. If I ever go back to Rome, I will definitely choose this hotel again.
