I took my daughter on a 4 day trip. Rooms was basic and thats ok no problem with that. Problem is when someone next door is in their bathroom u would think they were in your bathroom. The walls must be made of paper. Its awful. Someone then tried to come in our door on the first night scaring the life out of us. I tried to use the phone to call reception and the phone didnt work. Then I noticed the fire alarm was covered with a sock. I googled their number and could not get through at all. I went down to reception. They said they would send up security. I said its too late they are away. I said the phone wasn't working. They gave me a number to ring reception on my mobile. I asked for the sock to be removed from the smoke alarm. They said tomorrow. I was upset I wanted it uncovered immediately. I was just recovering from a broken foot and ankle. I had to stand on the bed and use a coat hanger to hit off the sock. The next day i went and bought 6 door stops to try stop anyone from coming in my room. We felt vulnerable and unsafe. Cleaning was not great. They made the bed that was it. They left me no fresh towels on day 2. The all inclusive can be frustrating. We were supposed to be offered snacks. We never got any the whole trip. The only ice lolly's for AL is an ice pop. U can have the choice of 1 beer and spirts and the cheap version of sprite coke and orange. You can't even get a pint of beer. Its a small glass u have to run back and forth with. The food was ok. Always found something but it wasn't great. The super market is right next door and Calella its self is a lovely little town. The entertainment was the same disco on fri sat and Sunday. Same routine. When checking out not as much as a "thank you" or "hope you enjoyed your stay" nothing. Staff was not rude but didnt find them helpful. I wouldn't recommend this as a family hotel. There is definitely better places out their. Better food and drinks, entertainment and most of all better safety in rooms.
To be completely honest the hotel was your very much standard budget hotel, it wasn't spectacular but equally it wasn't the worst hotel out there, and to be completely honest for the price we paid for 4 nights 5 days all inclusive we couldn't really grumble! The location was wonderful, plenty of lovely little restaurants and shops a minute or so walk from the hotel, a casino, a supermarket, and a crystal clear beach all right on your doorstep! There's plenty of activity's to do on the beach and i would highly recommend Calella watersports centre approximately 15 minutes walk from the hotel on the beach if you are looking to do water activity's such as jet skiing, kayaking etc. It was very reasonably priced and the staff couldn't have been friendlier! There's a lovely little train station about a 20 minute walk from the hotel which takes you to Barcelona every 20 minutes or so and for 2 of us it was 35 euros so not bad for an open return! Back to the hotel, the staff are all incredible and so friendly and helpful! There was a great little team by the pool everyday doing water aerobics and little quizzes etc and a pool bar for all inclusive guests by the main pool. My only complaint about been all inclusive would be SNACKS ARE NOT INCLUDED, which was really the whole reason for us booking all inclusive. When booking we presumed all inclusive meant EVERYTHING was included, but unfortunately snacks are not. The food itself was standard again, it wasn't the best we've ever had but it was edible and there was a wide variety of bits for everyone to enjoy! The pools and communal areas were all clean, and the rooms themselves were also very clean, with housekeepers going in every day to make the bed and freshen up the towels which was a nice touch. The balcony was basic but good enough for what we needed with a little table and 2 plastic chairs, my only complaint would be all the balcony's are see through metal bars which meant privacy was a little bit interrupted, especially if your neighbours were on their balcony at the same time. There was also no drying rack to hang wet swimwear/towels etc. We stayed in 736 on the top floor, and the shower was powerful enough for what we needed. The room was small but big enough for us 2 with a nice wardrobe and draw fitting built into the wall which was handy. My only complaint (although it didn't really affect us) was that we had 2 double beds pushed together to make 1 very large bed which was lovely, however one of the beds was the squeakiest most uncomfortable thing ever so we just slept on one of the double beds which was fine and must i say rather comfy! On the day of check out we asked if we could keep our room on for a little bit longer and it only costed 15 euros to do so for an extra 6 hours which was ideal for us and a really good price as i was expecting quadruple that! The only thing to keep in mind is there were quite a few students all rather young possibly on school trips staying at the hotel at the same time as us, but in fairness to them they didn't cause any grief! In regards to noise, the room was lovely and quiet and the neighbouring rooms could barely be heard, however as our room was located next to a boiler room there was a whirring noise all night which could potentially be an issue for lighter sleepers (although if you've made the most of the all inclusive drinks i think you'd be ok ha!) There were plenty of bits for kids to do such as a kids club, a little outdoor play area, kids pools etc. Would we return to the same hotel? Probably not BUT would we recommend it for a 4/5 night stay if your on a bit more of a budget? Absolutely!
