Montcada is a great location and in walking distance of the cathedral as La Rambla. The rooftop bar is spectacular and the views are superb, from the sea on one side, to the Segrada Familia on the other. The bar staff were lovely too. The room, although rather snug was comfortable and quiet. We couldn’t get the air conditioning to a low enough temp to feel the benefit, so the hotel gave us room fans, which really helped. The breakfast was adequate, not a huge choice of fresh fruits and the hot buffet was always lukewarm at best. They did cater for me with gluten free toast, and the usual Schar selection of crackers, cereal bar, muffin etc. Check-in and out was very easy and with the hotel looking after our cases after check-out (we had a later afternoon flight), it allowed us a final day in the city with a quick pop back to pick up cases and a cab to the airport. All in all, a pleasant stay.

We had jewellery stolen from our room (510). Staff didn’t seem to care or do anything about it. The room key showed that only us and the housekeeper had entered, yet they would accept no responsibility. Ruined our stay and now need to replace expensive jewellery at our own cost! Shocking!

Location - Excellent, right on the cusp of the gothic quarter and El Born. Atmosphere - Peaceful and calm Room - Clean, good size bed, walk in shower, perfect for short 4 night stay Value - Think we paid approximately 160 euros a night, which for the standard of hotel whihc is it, I thought was quite reasonable. Cleanliness - Hotel was immaculate, room was cleaned every day, 2 free bottles o water and coffee / tea replaced. Noise Level - Never heard a thing on a night Staff and service - Excellent, front desk gave us some restaurant recommendations etc. Roof top - We the roof top relaxing, especailly after a long day walking about. So was nice take a quick dip in the small pool and enjoy some of the sun. However I think they do need a few more lounger type chairs round the pool area.
