Some staff were very friendly, but said they were unable to help us with an air conditioner that was exceptionally noisy. Said to open window and offered a fan, that air conditioning was not advertised on website. However, it never occurred to us that in 2026, we would need to ask IF THERE WAS AIR CONDITIONING. We were not offered a change of room. Bathroom was not fully functional, no counter space, shower stall was barely four square feet, could not turn around. Overall room size was also small. Not what we were expecting for a 'Superior Double Room'. However, the breakfast meal was excellent.

I would highly recommend the King Charles Hotel. First class service from all of the staff. We were looked after very well and also had use of lounge for our family (10 adults) get together. Lovely large rooms with plenty storage. Good selection of hot and cold items for buffet breakfast. The hotel is on a hill near the castle, but don't let that put you off. An easy walk down to the main town and cheap taxis available for going back up. Definitely recommend staying here.
