After reading the reviews, I was apprehensive about this hotel. My expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Positives. Position of hotel is great, easily get to pool, buses, restaurants. Hotel room was spacious, had a fridge, kettle and was clean. Breakfast was usual items for hotels. Staff are friendly . I asked for a high floor and room with side view over harbour, which was accomodated Aqualuna pool was lovely. Always got a sunbed. Negatives Outside hotel road closed due to ongoing works, made it difficult for taxis etc to find. Towels are threadbare. Reported an issue with toilet 4 times was promised it would be fixed(never was) On leaving had to wait for pick up in lobby asked for some water was told there was a shop nearby, even though the staff had gone into breakfast room to get glasses of water. Could put a vending machine in lobby. Overall it is good value for money, we enjoyed our stay.
First the positives; the bed was large and super comfortable, like an Emma mattress. Room was spacious and clean, shower had good pressure, loo flushed well. Negatives; both patio door and bathroom door very heavy and needed two hands to open. Balcony tiny and view looked like Beirut. No glasses for water/wine in the room, just two grotty, dirty mugs for tea. Asked reception if we could have glasses and they refused, telling us to drink from the mugs. Breakfast was the usual ‘under the heat lamp’ offering. Mediocre at best. Small, cheap pastries and tiny tea cups so needed three visits to the busy machines to get your morning mug of tea. Cheap fruit and yogurt and minimal continental meat/cheese offerings. ‘Fitness room’ was a broom cupboard with one treadmill and one bike, both ropey. Clearly simply ticking facilities boxes to enhance star rating. Pool was across the road and shared with 5 other hotels and open to the public. Standing room only in the pool and no sunbeds free after 12 noon. Food/drinks around the pool is waiter service and is pretty good quality/price , and staff are lovely. Hotel is well situated in the heart of Sliema with plenty of great restaurants and bars. We visited Doma, Georgio’s and Brew and were very pleased with them all.
