An honest review of our stay we arrived 22nd July and Departed on 1st August. (10 day stay). Arrival & First Impressions: We were shown to our room by the reception staff. However, we ran into immediate issues: walking along the corridor to where our room was positioned the magnetic to hold the door open was hanging off the wall and was propped open by a folded spa leaflet. Once in our room we ran into another serious issue. The electric in our room (we had a wall between the double bedroom and the the two single beds) and the bathroom were not working. We arrived after 11.30PM so the room was pitch black. We were assured that someone would come and sort it. The "technical" guy came up and opened a vent in the ceiling and I can only describe it as he whacked the electric meter inside the ceiling. It worked as it came on. First impressions I'd definitely say it was not a 5* hotel and probably at a push 3. The lifts had holes in the walls and massive chunks out of the tiles on the floor. Some days they were not in working order and for the size of the hotel only one lift as the other was used for staff. The carpets are all stained and thread bare. On our corridor the pipe cupboard was constantly open wide so you could see exposed pipe work and a massive void. Surely this is health and safety if a child were to fall down it or through it as it was a working door height?? Room (2/5): Spacious enough for myself, husband and our 17 year old son. The beds were rock hard and many morning woke with a sore shoulder as I'm a side sleeper. We had two mini fridges as we had a wall dividing our rooms but only one fridge worked and was stocked but was daily stocked (Pepsi, Fanta, water). The on going issue with the electric which we have found throughout our stay was it was constantly going off. On average we had the "technical" guy up to our room at least twice a night giving it a whack! The rooms are very tired and in desperate need of whole overhaul. The shower was powerful enough, but half way through the shower you had to turn off as it would fill all the way up on the inside and came to your ankles! I didn't realise it came with a bath also! There must be a leak from above room as all the plaster was bubbled and water marked on the ceiling. Again the bathroom was very tired and in desperate need of some work. By the end of the 10 days we had muscles like Popeye from the wardrobes. They get stuck on the runner and would shift and literally had to put all your weight into it to get them moving. Which them made the worst loud noise. We had toeabe everything out till the next day as we were being mindful of the people next door especially if it was late at night. The balcony we had zero sun on it throughout the day from the position of our room, which is fine but on a afternoon I do like to sit on the balcony and have a coffee in the sun. But that's my preference. TV - the volume when you first turn it on would go so high it vibrated in the speakers. I'm not sure why this happened. But after that we only used our tablet to watch boxsets etc on when the WiFi was actually working. WIFI in the room was shocking. Constantly going off and re-signing in. Or you would take an age to load even the likes of FB. Housekeeping (3/5 overall): When we put the make our room up it was always done. Fresh towels if you hung over the shower changed. Only reason for the 3/5 is that we got chocolate on our sheets on the first night and they have never been changed the whole time we have had our stay here. The house kept just straighten the sheet and duvet that has been on the full stay. I'd even fold it so you could see it had chocolate on the sheet and duvet but on a night it was the same sheet/duvet made up again. The floors were never swept or cleaned whilst our stay so there was crumbs, fluff etc building up and the bottom of the slippers they provided were a shade of brown to the white when taken from the packet. Food & Drink (4/5): The food tasted great with good initial variety, though it did become repetitive over the ten days. If they provided more of the chicken shawarma or pizzas rather than just once (in our stay over the 10days that's the only time we seen this) it would have been better. As guests would stick pile these The night they were on causing horrendous queuing while you waited for the next batch of the food to get done. The bar selection was solid, though the cocktail list was limited and the drinks themselves were a bit hit-or-miss. Only downside to the whole restaurant evening meal was there only have around 6 hot plates along the back wall, where all there main meat is so on evenings it was a free for all and the ques were so long. They definitely need to invest in a larger area for the amount of staff. It was a free for all most nights people pushing and shoving to get in rather than just waiting. Tables for the amount of guests were lacking and trying to find a table was like finding a needle in a hay stack at times. Plates stacked high up you had to hunt down a member of staff to try and clear the table and reset for you. No table service available as there was no staff. In evenings I think I'd see around 5 or 6 members of staff. But this was in most areas. The bars mainly had one staff member on. Trying to find staff was a mind field in itself. Pool (3/5) Days we would come around the pool on a morning and there would be glasses and litter from the night before left on tables beside bed loungers which would be there all day and never collected. The pool was spacious and plenty of sun loungers for guest. The tables were never wiped so I would baby wipe each day as there would be the previous days residue on them or glass marks. The full 10 days we were here I never saw anyone test the water or clean the pools. The pools when water splashed left a salty taste on our lips and we ended up with really sore / chapped lips. The pools water polo nets was have seen better days. They were literally dropping to bits a bit like the parasols. I'd say 50% of the parasols were broken, ripped or the arms were hanging off. One day someone had put there parsol up and the metal arm fell off and hit them in the face! There is not one clock or temperature anyway in the hotel! I tell a lie there was one by the main pool but this was taken down and exposed wires are just left in it's place. A parasol blew into the pool and it had taken the staff around 1 hour to realise it was in the pool to try and sive it out. There's no lifeguards on duty apart from when the water slides on. But apart from that again you dont see any staff members. Entertainment & Animation (1/5): The evening entertainment was poor and none existent. One night we looked and it was Yoga!! The nightly mini-disco was largely geared toward Russian and German guests. We mainly sat in the Lobby bar and made our own entertainment by playing card games and Uno. Or alternatively we would go to the market or shops outside of the hotel. We didn't use the kids' club/animation team as we don't have small children. The entertainment team would come around twice a day, once for darts and another time for water polo. Again then you wouldn't see anyone. You would get pestered constantly from the spa, hairdressers, parrot photo opportunity and tattoo guy couple times a day around the pool! The spa guy comes around and he just stands and lingers over you while your on the lounger till you acknowledge him(he would stand with his spa documents and fold his arms until you looked at him or turned to look at him) when I said "no thank you" he asked "why" I found this a bit cheeky if I've said no thank you then that should be the end of it. But to ask why I found it a bit offensive. Staff (5/5): Without a doubt, the staff are the absolute highlight of Crown Serenity. They are among the friendliest team I’ve encountered at any hotel. Always smiling, helpful, and an absolute credit to the resort. Big shout out the Muhammad on the Lobby bar. He was there every night and what a lovely young man! Would we come again? - No - because the cons out weigh the pros it certainly isn't 5* that it is advertised as. It needs some serious money pumped into the hotel as it's so run down and in a poor state and very dilapidated at the moment. I wouldn't recommend it either if someone asked if they were looking at this hotel. It's a shame as the staff who you see regularly working are so hard working and so friendly it's quite sad to see.
A family of three with a 17 year old son from the UK. We're staying at this hotel as I write this review. We've had a fantastic stay. The staff are very friendly and work super hard for their guests. The rooms are nice and comfortable and have been cleaned every day. The food in the restaurant is very good and we've all found something we like to eat at every sitting. The pool area is really nice and chilled and there are plenty of sunbeds available. We've used the free bus to the beach once and it was great. The beach isn't the best in the world but it was fine. There is some form of entertainment on at the hotel in the evening. On the whole, we are having a really enjoyable stay at this hotel. I don't think that it is a five star, the little extras that make a five star are not quite in place. You will have a great experience here though, I highly recommend a stay.
