My son and I had a wonderful stay at this gorgeous hotel. We stayed in room 201 , a large room with a single and double bed with a stunning canal view. Check in was smooth and the lady was very friendly and nice. The room was modern and spotlessly clean with a large bathroom. The air con was very welcome and the WiFi was fast. The hotel is in a beautiful quieter area , 8 minute stroll to the Rialto bridge and another 8 minute stroll to St marks square. Breakfast was standard continental with croissants, toast , cereal , toast , meats , eggs , yogurts , juice and a wonderful coffee machine. We would love to return one day and would 100% return to this lovely hotel.
When we arrived at Hotel Tintoretto, the receptionist asked to see our booking confirmation, which clearly stated that we had booked a Superior Double Room. After some discussion in Italian between the receptionist and her colleague, involving paperwork being passed back and forth, they asked to see the confirmation again and took a photograph of it. We were then shown to our room, which was clearly not the superior room we had booked. I returned to reception to query this and was told that, if we wanted a superior room, we would need to pay the difference, despite having already shown confirmation that this was the room we had paid for. I contacted our holiday provider, Loveholidays, who looked into the issue. It appeared that the hotel only had us recorded as having booked a standard room. The receptionist then showed me another room, which looked much the same as ours, and asked for an additional €45 per night. We declined, as we had already paid for the superior room and were not prepared to pay twice. As we were only staying for four days, we decided it was not worth spending more of our holiday arguing about it. Once we returned home to England, I followed the matter up with Loveholidays, who have since refunded the difference. Overall, I thought the hotel handled the situation very poorly. Asking guests to pay more for something they already have written confirmation of having purchased is unacceptable. The breakfast selection was also very limited and disappointing, and after the first morning we chose to eat elsewhere for the remainder of our stay.
