We stayed at this hotel for a week and, overall, we had a pleasant experience. The rooms were modern, comfortable, and always very clean. A special thank you to the staff, who were kind and helpful throughout our stay. We had a couple of issues with towels not being available, but the reception team did everything they could to find some for us as quickly as possible. You could clearly see they were making every effort, and we really appreciated that. The location is good. The hotel is in Il-Gżira, with plenty of bus stops nearby, making it very easy to explore all of Malta. The rooms were comfortable. If I had to mention a few minor issues, the bathroom door was quite heavy, and the ceiling in our room had a few marks, probably because of the ongoing renovation work. The outside of the hotel was also under renovation, which affected the first impression a little, but this is completely understandable. Once the work is finished, I'm sure the hotel will look even better. One thing worth mentioning is that the swimming pool is not actually inside the hotel, as the Booking photos might suggest. It is located across the road at a partner property. The pool itself is lovely, although it can get quite crowded. The only part of our stay that disappointed us was the breakfast. As Italians, we are probably used to a different style of breakfast, but we found the selection quite limited, especially when it came to sweet options. I would suggest adding more pastries, cakes, and croissants, as many guests come from Italy and other countries where a wider variety of sweet breakfast items is expected. The fruit did not seem very fresh, and we did not enjoy the taste of the eggs, the juices (which tasted very diluted), or the coffee and cappuccino. We also felt that the breakfast staff were not as welcoming as the rest of the hotel staff. Overall, however, we had a good stay. The hotel is clean, well located, and the reception staff were always friendly and helpful. With some improvements to the breakfast, this would be an even better place to stay.
Our stay at Azur Hotel was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had, and we would not return or recommend it to anyone. The problems started on the day we arrived. The bathroom sink was blocked when we checked into our room. We reported it straight away, but it still took over 24 hours for the issue to be resolved. While it was eventually fixed, we didn't expect to spend the first day of our holiday waiting for such a basic maintenance problem to be dealt with. The most frustrating issue was the complete lack of clean towels. Throughout our entire week-long stay, there was a constant shortage. We were repeatedly told that towels were "on the way," but they rarely appeared when promised. It became obvious that the hotel doesn't have enough towels for its guests and is simply waiting for dirty ones to be washed before reissuing them 12 hours later or sometimes not receiving them at all . That is completely unacceptable and something no paying guest should have to deal with. To make matters worse, our room overlooked an active building site ( drilling noise started at 7am ) directly outside the veranda, with the road below closed off because of the works. The constant sight of construction completely ruined the view and atmosphere of what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday. We were never warned about this before arriving. Our daughter had to sleep on the sofa bed, which was incredibly hard and extremely uncomfortable. It was completely unsuitable for a comfortable week's stay. Breakfast was another disappointment. There were regularly no clean plates available, forcing guests to wait. The food was mediocre at best, and the so-called fruit juices were so watered down they barely tasted of fruit at all. The attitude and behaviour of the dining staff made the experience even worse. They hovered around the tables watching guests eat, cleared plates before people had even finished, and made us feel as though they wanted us out as quickly as possible. We were even told we couldn't take something as simple as a banana or croissant away with us or fill a bottle or cup with water before leaving. It felt mean-spirited and completely lacking in hospitality. Overall, this hotel appears to be cutting corners wherever possible—whether it's basic maintenance, providing enough towels, serving a decent breakfast, or making guests feel welcome. Instead of enjoying our holiday, we spent far too much time chasing towels, reporting problems, and feeling frustrated. For the price we paid, this experience was nowhere near acceptable. We left feeling let down and would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere.
